LOL....Settle down Rum.  ::)

like i said...I have made "A FEW TRIPS"....I said nothing about OUR trip.   :P

You did more than most of my buddies even OFFER to do...let alone actually do.  :o

I never said anything about asking someone that grabs food, ect for cash ontop of all of that.  that is not in my character.

I have reasons for not turning away the ten you offered on the way home (way I was raised i guess) but planned to get that back to you.....in numerous ways....bait for the next trip...a timmies card, slipped in a tackle bag.........man.......kinda like the way I used to have to sneak the cash my G-parents would give me...back to them...yeah yeah...it's odd...but aren't we all in some way??

Infact, your efforts are what made me wise up...and make the call for the "pre trip gas"....and to sort out a few of my buddies.   >:(

I have been 120-130 dollarin' myself to death, while it is great to have the company...I can not just go without a contribution to the gas fund...cheapskate??.....I would argue that point.

To that end, that is my fault...so i need to make the gas call...and then people can decide if 20 bucks is too much for a guys tank, when he tows a 20ft toon 4 hrs, so they can go fishing....you know?

Steve helped me alot...with the maint of the boat before the seaon got us on the lake...so like I said on the trip home, he had a freebie or two coming.

Think the name calling can cease!!   >:(

....I think asking for a little gas money is far from being a cheapskate... :D

I hope I am not coming on to strong...but I have had a really trying day, and a few of the conversations I have had today in reference to this, are kinda leading me to believe...that a few "buddies" of mine, with the "well, you are going out to the lake anyway....kinda attitude"....when I am asking for 20 bucks, to HELP with gas...are not going to be coming out with me, just because of it...sad IMO.

OTHER FEEL FREE TO CHIME IN...tell us how you "share the cost" when you or a friend puts the bucks into the tank!!

Cheers!!

Hey Ryan! It's been  a while, hope you're doing well!
I'll throw in my 2 cents on the matter. Personally, I'm all for pitching in gas money, I tend to do the "I buy every other tank of gas" deal on a road trip, but if a guy wants the cash up front, so be it. Their vehicle/equipment, their rules, if I don't like it, no one is forcing me to go. I also tend to make sure the owner of the boat is not paying the majority of the gas for the time on the water, if any at all. I know how much time, effort and money go into owning and maintaining a boat, and if they're generous enough to offer me a place on it, I feel it's only fair to pitch in (especially since I don't currently have my own). When I'm the one bringing people along, I don't expect this much help, but definitely some cash towards gas is common courtesy.  More often than not I just spell out a fixed amount at first, and if the same person keeps coming out repeatedly because of the cheap ride, then I start talking about an even split on costs. These days with gas prices being so high, I'd feel guilty if I wasn't able to pitch in for fuel.
Hope the summer goes well, and we'll have to try and get out fishing at least once before the ice hits! Take Care!

Carl
