Valpo Lakes Discussion Continues
« on: Apr 07, 2010, 05:20 PM »
Willijac and I attended a meeting last night where the Valpo Park District was asking for community input about how to improve the parks. We had some great opportunities to talk about the need to expand access to Rogers Lakewood Park(Loomis Lake) and also about Salt Creek. There were about 40 people there and we became known as the "fisherman" in the room! :) They asked things like how can we improve the parks, what should be our priorities for the next 10 years, etc. Fishing and improving the ramps were discussed. Thanks Jack for going with me. They will be sending out a random survey into the community soon, if any of you live up here and get one, you know what to highlight. We got to talk with the Parks Director, the Public Works Director, some city counsel men and others.

To continue our effort we are having a second meeting of our "Valpo Lakes" group on April 20th Tuesday 7pm at my church. (Liberty Bible Church)  It's located at 824 N. Calumet Chesterton. Just north of Rt. 6 on Calumet(Old 49). Come to entrance C and go to the Fireside Room. If you need directions give me a call 219-510-3193. We will be meeting with representatives of a group called "Friends of Fishing" and discussing how we can partner with them. Lots of potential here and I'd appreciate your support.
