It snowed last night, but by 8am it was gone. I looked out a few minutes and it is snow like a blizard.

Had a tentative walleye outing to Sacandaga Res. planned for early morning with a buddy today.  Called him Friday and told him I'm cancelling due to the winds expected.  He was really chomping on the bit to go and mentioned that we could fish the bays to stay out of the wind.  I didn't bite on that one, just too darn windy/cold/snowy for a day out on the lake.   :-\

I can remember about 20 years ago, me and my buddy Dennis were headed to Chautauqua lake on mothers day morning for some crappie fishing. Got down towards Silver Creek and started seeing snow on cars. Got down to Chautauqua and had about 5 inches of snow !!! >:(. We had a good breakfast at the mayville diner and headed back home.  :cursing: :cursing:

Yeah the 5wt needed some high velocity wind instruction. The first lesson went poorly. I resembled a Whirling Dervish trying to chase away a swarm of angry bees by furiously attacking them with a 9' 5wt flyrod. An ugly scene at best. Several automobiles and trucks stopped on the bridge and asked if I was in need of help....2 called Emergency Services, mistakenly thinking I was having a grand mal seizure.

It'll be better the next time :-\

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

OH my god!! I had tears in my eyes laughing so hard. The mental picture was priceless....(not that fishing the upper Hudson I have ever looked like that) ::) I remember one evening on the river I was out making my most valiant attempt to look like a "River Runs Through It" and my leader knot went back through my tip and try as I might in the water to my waist and a 9' rod and about 15 hours of experience I could not get it back through. So went into whippin stick mode and was slapping the rod tip at the water. This guy who to this day I know not who he was, waded calmly up above me about 30 yards and said (with tongue in cheek obviously). Are they so thick in here you can knock'em out and net'em? I of course said no!! This dang knot is stuck. He calmly asked for the tip of my rod, clipped the lines and re tied it for me. So now I feel real foolish and just start walking towards shore, said thanks just as his tip went up and he was fighting a good fish.
Guess that's why I never got to be a great fly fisherman...

Don't you hate those smart ass, philosophical, know-it-all fly fishers?

Especially when they catch fish :-\

Fly fishing is a humiliating as golf. Hmmmmm, maybe that's why I fish alone ???
