Dangerous Erosion
« on: Mar 26, 2011, 10:37 AM »
For those of you who fish limestone in fayetteville, be careful.  The creek has changed again over the winter since they took down the waterfall.

here's what it look like now, looking at the old dam,

here is looking downstream

and here is the dangerous part, a power-pole just a few feet from an eroding, undercut bank.

from downstream, not the best image but the best i could get while staying dry

i've told the village, and now am just hoping they can do something before it falls into the creek.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there\\\\\\\'d be a shortage of fishing poles

the reason its such a problem is last year, that side of the creek (the right when looking down stream) had maybe 5% of the total water flowing through it, most of the water was on the other side (left looking downstream).  In the summer, it sometimes didn't even flow all the way down on that side. but during winter and this spring melt it basically switched that, so that maybe 60-75% of the water now flows on this side (right looking down stream) and it's eating away at it quickly.
