Help.. Soldier Pond..Hard time understanding maines reg's sometimes

Soldier Pond, including tributaries, upstream to the first road or railroad crossing, Wallagrass Plt. CI. S-16.
From June 1 - September 30: S-6.
S-6 means Artifical lures only..
Can I fish bait from April 1st until May 30th

i would believe so. it would appear it would fall under the General law category until may 30th.

Yes it is my understanding that the pond is open under general regs until may 30th, JDK or one of the others of the northern crew would probally know more, but it is my understanding a group of old timers that are less than sportsman pushed the issue of the s-6 reg on solider pond,  claiming it made it harder for kids to fish, simple to make it easier for them to bring home several limits and the bio's changed the regs to allow bait fishing until the end of may

Soldier Pond has a round whitefish fishery and you are allowed to use worms/live bait early in the season.

        yep. i was at that meeting. got pretty heated. the same ol' timers from eagle lake that killed the togue fishing there attended this meeting. they were pushing for a 5 trout limit w/ use of bait again. me and alot of others wanted it to stay 2 fish artificials only. well the bios opened it from april to may 30th so these guys could catch some whitefish. which was the excuse they used besides that the kids cant fish without worms. used to be a outstanding fishery. after they reopened it for bait within 3 years you couldnt catch a gamefish to save your life. watched these guys go home w/ a limit and were back 2 hrs. later. wardens pinched one of them but many more got away w/ it. i was raised in soldier pond. used to be in july in front of the bridge used to boil w/ rolls on a mayfly hatch . i was there swimming last summer and never saw 1 roll! i wish that people would leave well enough alone! sorry just had to put that out.
