so what do you think its going be like come march or April when the ice is off. its fun fishin long pond but when there are about 8 other guys jumpin all over ya its kind of ridiculous. maybe this year me and my dad can get off the shore and into the water so we can catch the cows instead of the little 3 or 4 inchers.

The last two weekends have been outstanding at the Irondequoit Bay outlet. Everyone fishing from shore has been getting lots of perch with a good number of keepers (9"-12") mixed in with the dinks. I ran out of spikes last sunday morning and went to S&R bait on Culver to get more. I also picked up 3 scoops (scoops, not dozen) of minnows while there. I went through the minnows in less than 2 hours. A slow period is only 5 minutes or so, then right back to a fish (or two) on every cast. If you have a boat, they are still catching big (and small) perch out by the buoys.

nice catch eyeguy, real fast action and great eating. fair haven park at the coal docks is hot right now to. 2 hooks on a dropshot rig with minnows, eyes or worms [ havent tried spikes ] will get you all the bites that you can handle. havent got many hogs yet, but the 7-12 inchers are just as tasty. port bay is going well to, either from a boat or at the west bay side in the north west corner. they stopped charging last month at fair haven park. most of the perch are out deep. we have been casting out as far as possible and dragging the bait back slowly. there are very few snags there. weds i also had 3 nice pike on catching 2 of them and releasing them. both of them hit fatheads on bottom with the last one hitting a small perch. great fight on 6 lb test. hope this helps lc jones, tight lines and hope to see you on the water. ill be the one catching the perch, lol.

i have fished 15 days out of the last 3 weeks and have done quite well. i have fished out of the sodus bay yacht club, port bay and mostly fair haven park off the coal docks. i have caught at least 50 everyday , keeping between 25 and 50 perch per day. great action, mostly b4 noon and seen just about everyone catching fish. pl ,his son and 1 fished today catching an ez 150 perch, keeping around 75 between the 2 of us . they were between 9-almost 12 inches. real healthy perch and yummy to. minnows and worms the choice of bait. we caught the majority of the bigger ones on fatheads though.big dave out.

LCJ. I don't know where you're coming from but...If you're east of Irondequoit and coming Rt104, exit at Bay Road and head north. At Lake Road you must turn (dead end), turn left. The bay outlet is about a mile down the road. If you're coming via NYS Thruway from the east, exit at Victor Rt490. Stay on 490 until you see a split, take 590 North. Stay on 590 and it will take you right to the outlet and parking lot. If you're coming from the west on the thruway, exit at Henrietta Rt390. Take 390 to 590 East. Again, stay on 590 to the end. Once you hit the bay area, there is ample parking and you are only a minute walk from fishing. I hope these are right, I don't have time to verify.I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Eyedktr & Big Dave
   thanks for the great info.
I'm somewhat famiiar with Irondequoit bay though I wasn't so sure where to fish from shore.    I might head out there this weekend if the weather is half way decent.
Funny how the old bones get stiff while shore fishing in the cold weather but not while icefishing.
I'll be coming in from the west end of Oneida lake near Brewerton.  I live on the Oneida River near the Caughdenoy d**n.  Great walleye fishing right now below the d**n and along the shoreline of the lake.
   catch you on the water.
thanks again.

If you have  a boat and don't mind a little drive they are catching some nice perch ( 10-14in.) range in seneca lake. Off of dresden and longpoint. You could also try glass factory bay.
