deep cycle trolling motor batteries
« on: Sep 15, 2012, 05:57 PM »
AGM, GEL, Lead Acid.  So many choices.    What has everyone used or is using?

I am going to be in the market for new batteries next year since I am buying a new trolling motor for my boat.

I have been using AGM,s from Cabelas the last few years and have had good luck with them, but they are a little pricey Had to replace one of them due to a cracked corner, my fault. Been leaving them in the boat all winter and throw a charge into them about once a month.

Warranty and replacement policy.  I've really don't find any flaws in deepcycle batteries of anykind its like dodge vs. chevy.  A truck is a truck with just little differences. For me I use walmart marine deepcycles with a two year warranty and have yet been disappointed and there replacement policy is quick and easy and there is a walmart in every town or area that you plan on fishing. It more maintenance in the battery than namebrand. Just my opinion.

X3 on the I-pilot.  Spot lock is best thing since sliced bread!

I have had good luck with Interstate lead-acid.

I use thw wal mart deep cycles in all my equipment such as my boat,my camper, enclosed trailer, wood haulin truck, concession trailer and they work great!! I had to replace one I have had for 4 years that I never took out in the winter but lasted good. for the money and ease of replacement and availability is the reason I use em. I use caterpillar batt. in my pickup and they have awsome warranty and life I just wish they had deep cycle.
