Rt 55 Thayer, Shelbey has a descent ramp now. Put in a few years back.Ramp at Grand Marsh is good. used to really love the State line but have heard alot of bad reports.Might be ok in the spring during the day.Caught my first mud puppy there, about 12 one night and my old Zebco reel(25 yrs ago or so) had tangled so I walked up the ramp pulling the fish up the ramp also, I thought for sure I drank to much when I started walking down to the fish and it started walking back towards the water lmao. we released the fish and told the wife about when we got home and they thought for sure we had drank a little to much that day lol. We caught quit a few of them in that area, great area for cats a some real fun Dog fish lol. never caught one any where else on the Kank. Boats to big to fish the river with it so i do a little shore fishing but thats it. Used to be some real History down towards the state line area, beatiful areas of the river. Lots of Bayous and coves to fish in the spring. I also hear La Salle off of 41 south side of the river has a newer ramp that goes straight into the river now.Good Luck, Be safe but enjoy that Great River, i used to water ski on there years ago lol. I'm a little smarter these days lmao.
Waterdog..... I launch there all the time and have for years. If you hug the near shoreline in low water til you almost get to the bridge you'll be in deep water the whole time. I launched all last summer in my V-Bottom and had no poroblems. Keep this link on the daily flow, it speaks for itself in terms of river conditions! http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=05518000Good Luck !!!
