Boomer, These pictures are females. 16'-20' of water, fished 8'-12' with 32oz jig and gulp, using a 9' Cabela's Zander walleye rod, just like a fly rod. Believe it or not somebody said,"When they're biting you can catch them on anything." My wife had a bunch of gummy worms so she used small pieces on jig and caught the heck out of them. They do have a strong scent. When the bite slowed down, she just "ate the bait"! ;D

I caught lots of males  on beds with fly rod that I released.
