I fished the North Hoosic in North Adams for a few hours this afternoon.
It was cloudy (started to sprinkle toward the end) and temps were in the high 60's/low 70's, but humid. The water level was pretty good.
I fished below the Eclipse Mill dam to start, and caught one 9" brown.
Then I drove upstream to the Natural Marble Bridge Stage Park.
I lost a 13" rainbow practically at my feet just below the entrance to the park, another smaller trout a little further downstream, and a third small trout a little upstream from the entrance (where Hudson Brook flows into the river).
I headed up the brook to the small Pond in the Park and landed one 10" rainbow by the Marble dam.
Not a great percentage (Just 2 fish caught out of 5 opportunities, and lost "the big one" to boot).
But at least it didn't cost me anything. With all the rain we've had lately, I was able to gather my own bait rather than have to buy it. Plus, I found someone's lost lure wrapped around a tree and was able to cut it down and add to my collection.
