Really a pain in the behind I realize, but this snow is a blessing in disguise.  Many of our watersheds were still in poor shape from last years drought before this snow event.  Slow spring run-off over the next month from these snows makes for some good trout fishing and helps keep flows going into summer.  Many lakes/ reservoirs were critically low end of last season, not to mention many people personal wells.  I think this snowfall will finally bring aquifers back to normal.

your totally right about that, definitely need the water levels back up. The lakes near me are the lowest i can remember the more run off and melt the better.

Yeah the lakes are at the lowest around here in recent years. 40+ inches of snow in eastern madison county. Will be great run-off/melt in a few days...trout time!

this kind of snow 2 weeks before season will hurt you'll have high cold water for opening day and the overall effect of raising  water sheds with damns wi;; be nill  ...the  state will run water before the canal system opens and  the power companys  will release to make power
you can destroy buildings  you can't  destroy the  american spirit

X2 trap. But hopefully this cold and snow will help delay the apple trees from popping out to early

this snow will definitely not help the opening day of trout and will make it challenging to reel in a limit thats for sure but if this snow wont help raise the lake levels than we need another stella or two to come through!! Alot of people couldn't even get they're boats off the hoist at the end of summer last year and the levels are still extremely low. 24"s of melting snow has to help at least a little...maybe ...hopefully ???
