Raritan Bay & Surf Spots On It
« on: May 16, 2005, 08:11 AM »
My buddy took his boat out for a few hours on Friday morning and anchored up off buoy 1 in Keyport. He said he got 10 bass, no huge fish but I know he had fun on the gear he's using for em. All fish taken on clams.

Me & Spleen1666 hit up the surf yesterday, right around the area where my buddy was on the boat Friday, and all we got was choppers. Most of em around 6-8lbs.  Defiantly not what I went there looking for but was better than nothing at all. All fish taken on metal, bunker chunks and bluefish fillets.

AK isn't coming soon enough....can't wait to fight with 1 grizzly for 100,000 fish instead of 1,000 snaggers for 10.

Defiantly no sunburn on the trip today. Pretty windy and cloudy the whole time right up until sunset. We headed down in the early afternoon and between me and the 3 guys with me, all we managed was 1 hit on a clam and 1-2 hits on metal spoons. No fish were hooked. Talked to 2 guys that had gotten there before us and all they managed was 1 bass on a plug.

The 1/4 mile trail is a heck of a lot more fun in the new truck than it was on foot.

With the full moon on Tuesday and the high tide in the early AM we'll be back and hopefully find some bass with little or no blues mixed in. With the high tide being in the early AM all week and me working evenings I should be able to make it out a few times during the week as well but Tuesday is the day I'm going no matter what the weather conditions.

Hey FFF when did ya lose your gear?  Left it in the back of the truck & someone ripped it off?  I live down the block from ya so I'll keep a lookout for anything suspicious.

Gotta make another attempt at catching a striper on some of the shad I caught in a local river tommorow morning. If nothing else, catching the bait is fun (2-3lb gizzard shads).

the shad are in a local river. I haven't gone looking for them in the past 2-3 days but a buddy of mine said he couldn't find em. I guess they are just more spread out with the little rain we got.

I'm gonna give my spot 1 more try and if nothing is going on I'm gonna start hitting the ocean side.
