I'm posting this a day late (unusually for me), but better late than never, so here goes:
I needed a day off from ice fishing, and the weather was nice, so I thought I'd do some open water fishing instead.
It was sunny and relatively warm (50 degrees), and the water levels were a bit high but not too bad.
First, I fished my usual milk run on the South Hoosic from 12:15 to 1:15 PM - - - nada.
Having swung and missed on the river, I decided to lower my sights and try a brook instead.
So I headed to my old reliable brook trout stream and, after 45 minutes, managed to catch four "whoppers" (all in the 3" to 6" range).
