spare spools

most reels come with a aluminum and have a spare in grapite is thier any big diference i just won a 9 ft surf rod combo in a derby and was wondering before i spool it if one is better for lighter lines and lures and the other heaver and bait  just thaught i ask and see the results

Both will work equally well for most applications. The aluminum spool is more expensive than graphite so they give you one of each.

I think the aluminum spools are better, especially for heavier applications.
Brands like Shimano give you two aluminum spools with their higher-end reels.

thanks for your input ill probaly use the graphite one for lighter line and pluging stipers off the beach and use the aluminum for the bait end using 5-6 oz plus a bunker chunk would be alot for a graphite
