rain trout
« on: Sep 09, 2006, 02:26 PM »
We just had a good rain shower that made the rivers go up about 6 inches. The water got pretty cloudy too, but mostly was running fast. Do the trout feed good when the water is like this? Also, do they move to calmer water?

I did great!, I nailed 3 of them in about 2 hrs, One was a personal best for the stream 14". He jumped about three foot out of the water! It was pretty awsome

In general, the trout seem to bite better when the water is rising. A bit off color helps as well.

trout fishing in crappy weather is the best.  I've noticed they feed way more when the water is muddy.
They come out of their cover.  The worse the weather the better the trout fishing.
care for a warm up?

I only managed one two weeks ago. Also picked up a small rainbow, and several other hook ups, but lost fish.

I caught this one out of murky water! I knew some of the bigger ones would come out with the higher, faster, and dirtier water. When I set the hook, he came flying out of the  water 3 feet! It was a beautiful jump

I had a spot that was really good just as it started to rain.  There were a couple trees hanging over the river and the ants would get washed off.  We used to nail brookies and browns under those trees when it started raining.
