What a catch!
« on: Apr 11, 2007, 02:19 PM »
Hi all I though I would share this photo, and story that went with it.

 It was sent to me as an email.

This prairie rattlesnake was found in Oct.

It was found just South of Katepwa Lake in a field adjacent to highway #56 near the dam spillway.

Thanks to local farmer, Mr. Adam Deutcher, it's no longer a threat to humans or animals in the area.

{MELVILLE HERELD PHOTO}

The rattlesnake was 9 feet 1 inch long and 87 lbs. :o

These snakes ary more afraid of humans than humans are of them. Too bad it was killed. Just think of the number of gophers this would have killed to grow that big. Nice pic though.

Snakes do eat gophers, but I personally thinks it fun to go out and shoot them with my 10/22.  Gophers make great target practice.

I used to use the little buggers for target practice as well, until the brain dead liberal government of that time took away our right to own property, err.... I mean guns.

Never did eat one, but the neighborhood cats used to have a feed. An old farmer used to give us $.10 for each tail we'd bring him. Some days we could make almost $5 a piece.

Cut off the tail and leave'em  there. What the cats didn't eat the coyotes would. Go back the next day and there would be nothing left.
