We had a good weekend at Quartz - several good char (three that went 21") but had a very hard time getting the rainbows to bite. Did hook 3 or 4 including one nice one that was probably 20" but I was fly fishing in waders and just as I was trying to grab it (forgot my fly fishing net) the fish rolled on me and out came the hook. Unintential c&r!!!
Also got a good number of landlocked silvers, but only kept a couple of those to fill out the little cheif with the char. It turned out ok, but I think the brine had a hard time soaking into the larger fish. I probably should have brined it overnight or something...anyone with a better recipe for brining and smoking whole trout, char, etc please speak up - I'm still fine tuning this and am finding that it's quite a bit different than smoking the salmon fillets!
(try to post a pic later)
