What style hook do you prefer?
« on: Apr 25, 2004, 02:02 PM »
What style of hooks does everyone use?  I have had good luck using large pieces of cut bait for cats locally which require a pretty big hook.  I've found a 5/0 wide gap offset shank worm hook to work well for me but also like Kahles.  Anyone use circles?  If you are not using cut bait please include your application for your hook choice.
May your doorknobs smell of fish!!

I use 5/0 Octopus style hooks and a 1.5'' - 2'' sucker steak  for monster channels here in Manitoba! :)

Since I am a fresh chicken liver specialist, I use #2 gamakatsu trebles. I also use 1/0 extra wide gap offset gamakatsu hooks to use for cutbait and they work awesomely. For Nightcralwers or crawfish, I use a #1 gamakatsu baitholder. Live minnows call for larger but still fine wire hooks with a larger gap than an aberdeen.
