This time of year is particularly a great time of the year to be fishing in Mass. Plenty of trout stocked waters, Quabbin, herring / striper / shad run, large/smallie bass are starting to heat up. The biggest thing is narrowing down which species to target. Are there a couple of things I would like to see different? Yes. But as a whole I believe the people who are in place are doing a fine job. I would like to see a bigger presence of Educated DEP personel, they have been hit hard by budget cuts (who hasn't?) and still we have stocked waters and programs (tiger muskie) that are catching on in some areas. Put it this way, no one in Mass can complain that there are no fish out there to catch.
