WALLEYE vs. PICKERAL

 WHAT AND IS THERE ANY DIFFERANCE?

 I always  thought they were the same fish but pickeral was the canadian name and walleye the american

 Like Jack fish and northern pike

 am i an idiot or is that comment on shanty about fish identa cards totaly uncalled for.

actually  a pickeral actually a chain pickeral is a fish that looks similar to a pike and what some canadians call pickeral are actually walleye. Totally different species.

 LAKER 357 you are correct in that pickerel was the canadian term for the american term walleye . Our regs here in Ontario till just recently  always had the yellow pickerel ( walleye)  listed as this .
  That is what they are called in Ontario and has always been so . I myself will not post it as anything else while on the Ontario forum .  I will on the general or the American forums just to cut out any confusion but yellow pickerel has always been the term here .
