Got sick of my huge tackle box.
« on: Mar 26, 2010, 07:38 AM »
Its a biatch to lug around and i end up leaving it alone on the shore as i walk around alot and I have been looking into a new option. I just found this backpack by Flambeau for 10 fricking dollars. TEN DOLLARS! Its 40$ on amazon and ebay and walmart. http://fishing.flambeauoutdoors.com/otdrs_fishing/soft_tackle/soft_tackle_systems_pg2.asp

I ordered 2 of them. Gonna just give away the 2nd one to my fishing buddy as a "thanks for driving me around all winter to go ice fishing" gift.

Now I can leave the tackle box in the car and take the essentials with me!

Yes, it's sad that I get this excited over a fishing backpack.

There are many ways of packing light.  I know I always try to just pack that single utility plano case of just a few lure variety to use.  Fits into the fishing vest back really easy.  I also lug around the tackle box, which is now a backpack tackle.  Those hiking fishing trips...well when far enough, I hate getting caught off without certain lures or tackle.  I've also done the fanny pack tackle box.  It did it's job at times.

I have a Cabelas version of a small box. I like being able to hang it on my shoulder, one less thing in my hands.

I have a huge tackle box, but I have several small boxes(about 7"x 4"x1") for specific types of fishing. They are especially for shore or stream fishing when on the move.

If you have a few musky baits, then you haven't much choice but to get a big tackle box to carry it.  ;D

I picked up the small Rapala folding stool/ tackle bag, its awesome ! It has an adjustable shoulder strap and a bag on both sides of the seat.
It fits between my legs in the kayak and I can bungee onto the kayak front deck in the open position. I can sling it behind my back when I'm
beating the brush for Brook trout. I took the plastic boxes that came with my man killer Plano tackle box and organized each one for a specific
type of fish that I'm targeting. So now all I do is pick what ever box I need that day and go.

Nice find on that ten dollar back pack! I also use a back pack when I have to walk more than a quarter mile or will be moving around a LOT on the river. Pack lighter, fish longer!

lol. Whether he's with Flambeau or not, that's a heck of a deal!
I ordered one 2 minutes ago.  ;D.
If you're not with Flambeau you should get a lil royalties.
