wow that smoked fish looks great! Another good one is wild turkey and fiddle heads! Gobble gobble
Which turkey?the kind that flys or the kind that makes you dumb and brave?
You make a strong case!!!
mm mmm good! Some of the younger generation may not even know what a fiddle head is, And they are not around to long in spring.
im the younger gen who has never picked fiddle heads but has eaten them. can anyone tell me the dif between them and the other kind? i was told dont pick harry fiddle heads or w.e. they are cause they aint really fiddle heads.
The Ostrich fern aka fiddleheads also seem to have more of the brown paper-like covering on them than the other types of ferns. But the lawn grass-green color and U-shaped stem is the best way to ID them.Kaleb,I pick at a few places in Sidney and WTVL in and around brooks near the Kennebec river. If interested in going, send a PM. The fiddleheads there are ready for picking just after the Smelts run in this area and at around the same time as the perch run in Belgrade. Usually early to mid May.
I can't wait till mid may to head north and troll a couple ponds in off the beaten path for big square tails and mud hens. Floating the river and casting for rainbows and browns is hard to beat to
What's a mud hen?
