Yeah, last year in Lewiston it started the last week of March.  If it is half the run we had last year it will be great.  Wish I didn't have to be out of town for the whole first week of April.

Sorry, none at Russell in years. I think the day I got them was April 8th last year. It was the redwings home opener. And I heard they were in four or five days earlier than that. The run lasted almost two weeks.

A little over 70 miles. Artpark is where to go. After researdhing a little, las year the ice boom tear down started March 23. It takes a few days to a week after that for the smelt to head up the river. Last time I looked, They delayed the tear down 'till after the 1st so don't expect the same early run as last year.

Can't wait for smelt! But with this cold weather and snow showers being expected, looks like the waiting game is on!  >:(

my brother and I went to the far end of artpark last year in mid april, small parkig lot at start of path to power project. Had our limit in half hr. The shoreline was black 10 ft out with smelt in late afternoon.

Could the late ice on Lake George delay the smelt run? Or will they still run close to on schedule into the open streams?

anyone ever try jigging them up in any of the small lakes in the adirondacks later in the year? we get em though the ice in places like rollins pond, just curious if you could get them w/ a canoe?
