Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone new if it was legal to use salmon as bait on the red river and if anyone thinks it would work for cats? Thanks

You can use anything as cut bait, but salmon is not cheep

When I didn't have suckers to use as catfish bait, I often used frozen northern whitefish from Superstore. When thawed and chunked up, they worked just fine! And they were pretty cheap. If all else fails, use raw, frozen prawns.

hahah i know its not cheap i cut off the thin sides last time we had salmon for dinner and kept it for fishing just to see if it would work since it smells so much..

Does anyone think the cats would already start to bite this early? im going to the lake on sunday but really want to try fishing saturday as well i was going to go to labarriere park but the river is really flooded so im thinking of maybe going to the floodway gates. thanks
