Question, that only you true Oneida Lake Diehards could answer. I am coming in to Syracuse from Buffalo on Christmas day. Will have some time to kill at the inlaws!! Will there be any open water still?? Is there still a bite for nite walleye? All I know about Oneida is which side is the North shore (ha ha). Dont know if I need a permit from you guys to fish on that side? Any advise would help. We have about 1" of snow here in Orchard Park. Happy Holidays to all.

There is open water now, although the bite is slow you can always find some shoreline cruisers. Can't guarantee that it will still be open on X-mas day. No permit needed, but you might wanna wear a hat. ;D

Forecasts shown nothing above freezing for a while after Tuesday.  That is good but you need some 0`s to get some good ice started..  need to get her froze over before the water gets too cold..  Hope you all have a good season.. For me it is back to chasing the big old Fl. Black Bass for a few months..
I`ll know when there is ice as you fellows will be switching over to iceshanty...

Merry Christmas everyone
had a lovely drive around the end of the lake this morning on the way into work, seeing a lot of bays and marinas starting to skim over wont be long now.  haven't been on here much with the new job but last few weeks have been good for me I've been out a lot along the shore my new job takes me down the north shore and around  tru the beach so lots of stops to take a few cast on the way home each night. lately just been stopping and using the light have managed at lest one keeper each night for the last 2 weeks, looks like this week may be the last for stopping along the shore hope to see a few of ya out on the ice soon.  ;D

Hopefully we don't get a bunch of milk-ice out of this. We need a better base.
