Vacation and New PB
« on: Aug 10, 2014, 01:56 PM »
Just got back from the cape from my 2nd trip down this year. The canal was on fire the 1st few days just like Colby had said. 3rd cast with the savage eel and I was into a big one. After about a 6 minute battle I made the ultimate mistake and tightened the drag. 1 more run and snap. Fish gone. After a couple smaller fish the next morning, that afternoon started with a blue fish. Then wham another big one hits the savage. Not going to make the same mistake twice and left the drag alone. After a great battle the fish was on the bank. Could not get the scale to come off kg but did have my son convert kg to pounds when I got back to the trailer. Yup a new PB. 39.5lbs.

I fish every chance I get and enjoy every time I fish. They call it fishing not catchin

  • If it was easy they would call it catching.

Awesome pics and congrats on the new PB.  I was down there the same time period.  I fished the canal a couple times and got the skunk.  I think I was the only guy down there that weel that never hooked into a fish.  Maybe I had the wrong color lures or something because I tossed savage sandeels, SP minnows, jointed sebile magic swimmers, top water poppers, sub surface walk-the-dog rapala, and a few others and couldnt hook into anything.  I got a couple missed strikes on a pencil popper but never hooked into anything.
