Having a tough time getting excited to bow hunt having just returned from a successful Newfoundland moose hunt. We have a pig at the butchers also. Had to go and buy a bigger freezer last weekend. Well maybe now there is room for some deer! It's early yet guys, the best is still to come. I'll have some Fred Flintstone steaks to share on the ice this winter!

I forgot to mention, our Newfoundland hunting guides where "as they stated" fish harvesters. All 4 of our group got their moose by Thursday morning, so
Friday morning our guides took us to their village to go hand lining for cod fish. We caught our limit within an hour. Fresh North Atlantic Cod, wow is that good eating! This part of the trip was as good as the moose hunt for me.

Just back from nite watch.   Spent the morning scouting and found a spot that I wanted to try.  Returned after lunch with my climber.  Got settled in by 3:30 and had a little doe at 13yds at 4:30.  Took her 20 min to move 10 ft real spooky with the wind.  She eventually busted me with all the swirling wind but not before it could have been too late.  Her lucky day today.

The deer were moving pretty good for me tonight too. Had a doe come through solo. Then a spike and a 4pt. fed in front of me at 20 yds. for a half hour. The 4 pt. was making scrapes too. Then a button came in and the 4 pt. chased the poor little guy around until he left.

Saw nothing tonight up north.

Got a good laugh saturday after checking one of the food plots. This is a radish. The purple top turnips are the size of softballs. Cant keep the deer out of them the past week.

Holy cow that is huge Paul! I am sure they are loving that food.

I saw a couple small bucks this morning and they were both following doe. I have been seeing a lot of pre rut activity. No bigger bucks yet.

Also saw 2 fishers, here is a pic of one that walked under my stand.

The kids are getting big DC. I have skipped many hunting and fishing trips to spend time my son and I NEVER regret it. Those deer ain't going anywhere but those kids are only going to be young once!

I too had to forego the hunting on Saturday, went to NYC for my daughters first college swim meet!
Not a choice in my mind.
Did get out yesterday both morning and afternoon, saw a fisher in the a.m, a couple distant deer,
nothing in the p.m.
A fiend shot a nice 8 pt Saturday, tipped the scales just over 200 lbs, like a pound or two over, that's it,
18 7/8" inside spread.
