Yup, every year I wait patiently for the first "killing" frost.
Then my hay fever goes into it's winter hibernation for another year.
It's been brutal the past 2 days.

Just got done harvesting almost everything that survived.....

Lots of cucumbers,  and green tomatoes..

Lots of green tomatoes which are sitting in salt for 3 or 4 hours and will be pickled  and jarred  later...

Nice haul! Tried pickling green tomatoes once. Not very good results. Maybe next year.

On another note, I finally found a yellow jacket trap that really works.

4 day total.

Terro reusable trap.

Worth every cent of $9.

Made an apple pie just the other day. My son works on an apple farm and brought me a few big bags of apples. Macs, honey crisp, gala and fuji.

I'm gonna smoke a few honey crisps this weekend.  I'll stuff them with brown sugar, butter and bacon bits.

The smoked garlic, cayennes and firecracker peppers turned out great. I ground the peppers this morning. Looks like a killer seasoning to me. It's  got a really nice smoked heat. And it's HOT!

Couldn't  wait till this weekend.

They're in the smoker now. Thought it would be the perfect desert for country pork ribs on the Weber with garden fresh wax beans and a salad.

Patiently waiting for the finished product.

They were pretty good. Taste was awesome. Had them in at 250 for about 2 1/2 hours. They could have cooked for another hour I think and at 275. They were huge apples.

They'd be easy on the Weber. 350 for an hour or so and they'd be done. Might even do that and just add a few apple wood chunks to the coals for smoke.

But, that's the other thread😁

I need to pick another bag of wax beans this morning. There's a bunch out there. The cayenne pepper plant is still going wild with peppers. I may have to freeze a bunch of them green if we get a frost.

Stop guys, im in the hospital  :'.

I kid about the stopping, but I'm really here. Pancreatitis and perhaps colitis of some kind. So im on a clear liquid only diet till all the tests go. Had a terrible cup of beef broth last night, man it was so good after 2 days and 3 nights of nothing.

Hospitals suck! Especially when you have to eat their food.

Hope you get straightened out quick bud. Good vibes coming your way!
