Hanging it is the best bet and if you still don't feel safe take a cheap tarp one of those blue ones works just fine and wrap the sled like a fine Xmas package and duct tape it that will keep the little critters out of it for sure. Using mothballs or a urinal puck will only give the fisherman next year ideas that you shanty is a outhouse. If you decide to hang it take 4, 2 liter pop bottles and cut the bottoms off then string them on the line above the sled much the same as one of those squirrel guards on a bird feeder this will make it a little slippery for the little buggers to use the ropes to get to the sled. Tying a knot in the line will secure the bottle tops about a foot or so from the anchor point.
