I like the looks and idea of that starboard stuff.  How was that to work with?  Is it lighter than marine grade plywood?  Where did you get it?  I've got a similar job coming on my boat.

I'm curious about how it worked out too.
I have been under the impression that it is too flexible to be used as flooring in a boat.
Thanks.

It's very easy to work with, any common wood working tools do fine. It's not as stiff as plywood and must be supported with a good stringer system. The property that caught me by surprise is the expansion rate. I did the fitting on a blistering hot sunny day in my driveway. After I screwed it down and it cooled off, gaps at the seams appeared. Which is better than the other way around, buckling. It is heavier than the plywood, not by much though. But you don't need to add epoxy, carpet or vinyl covering. It will not absorb water or rot.

I bought it from Curbell Plastics, 2 sheets 54" x 96" @ $180/ ea.

Time will tell on the pros and cons.

I Think your right Mac, that it isn't recommended for floors. They talk about cabinetry, steps and so on. But in my small well supported situation I went for it. All seams need support from below.

Yea, I saw your pic of the boat without the floor after you ripped it out.
Your stringer system was quite extensive.
Other boats aren't nearly that plentiful with the stringers.
Thanks.
Mac
