Erie Canal WNY
« on: Aug 14, 2018, 09:17 AM »
I've been fishing a spot in the canal between Rochester and Buffalo the last couple weeks, and have caught a few largemouth bass that looked very unhealthy. Red spots around their gills, and just looked overall kinda crusty.  Caught some other panfish that looked fine, just wondering if anyone had any info on what his might be?

The canal has been my main fishing spot for years. Ive taken at least 10 catfish 4 pike and 20 walleye from there this year. Took a small walleye and a couple perch there last night after work. Not big on bass fishing but everything ive taken looked and tasted fine. I dont bass fish but do catch a lot of rock bass there. They always look weak compared to the ones i get thru the ice. The 2-3 largemouth ive caught looked good but that was 6-8 weeks since i caught one.
