They're not a weapon and no they don't crush the worm. They're very gentle.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

They just look like they would crush a crawler.
I'm being serious.

Maybe because they are so long they bend somewhat, lessening the pressure on the gripping end???

When I was a kid I would crawl in the grass with a flashlight in my teeth "pulling" crawlers and filling a coffee can.
My brother David and I could easily get 100 in a night.
About an hour or so before sundown we would start the lawn sprinkler and get the yard soaked.
We crawled in that wet grass.
My mom loved how dirty and wet we got, not to mention the grass stains she could never get out.

If I got down on the ground like that today and crawled around for even as little as 15 minutes I would need 800 mgs of ibuprofen to get out of bed the next morning.

The ones I use do have a lot of bend to them, the end is rounded but have gripping ridges.

Can't wait to get out there, but after I got my worm box set I threw my back out hauling compost and manure for the garden (I think).  2 days of hauling and spreading (Wed and Thurs) and I was fine - yesterday I went to put my socks on and boom.  What a joke ...... from now on I'm barefoot until fall !  LOL

They're actually very gentle. I just slip it under the crawler and scoop it into a coffee can or plastic bag.

No worms were injured in the testing of this implement 👍

I hope you then sterilized them.
I heard the crawler flu is even worse than this beer and lime flu.
