We'll have to excuse Mac. He hates ice fishing.  :rotflol: :rotflol: :rotflol:
Yea... I’ve come in during the winter to share some pics, he doesn’t like that  :rotflol:

If the two batteries combined have more AH than the one large one then your statement would be incorrect.

That's what I was thinking. If we are talking equivalent batteries here, either the single or the two doubles, all three batteries being equal capacity and AH, wiring in parallel will double the run time.

If I remember how amps are drawn from a battery, as the amps are drawn the battery warms and becomes less efficient.  A pair of 50ah should out perform a single 100ah for that reason.

Key to this discussion is understanding how much the troller consumes at its max.  For mine they pull max 20ah. So I did a total compacity of 200ah to ensure 10hrs of operation roughly.

Since it was stated the two batteries are of different age and resulting capacity.
and there is no onboard fancyinverter

it is best if they are unhooked and charged separately.

100 bucks gets a 2 bank charger that can charge both regardless of size, age and compacity...

Correct!
Good onboard multi bank chargers isolate the batteries they are charging.
And some even "move" over some of the current to the other battery if/when one gats charged quicker than the other.

I fried a battery (it blew up!!!) using a charger that I thought was ok.
I learned my lesson.
Buy a good one.

One of my employees had his house burn down due to a bad drill battery charger last month.

You could use Mighty Max 35 aH batteries. They are light weight and won't break the bank. I think they are like 25 lbs.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.
