I thought about that too lol.

Tonight the wife made enchiladas out of the chicken of woods,,a suggestion from piggyn,  you can really taste the shroom flavor when done like that. Just sub out shroom for chicken.

I checked some of my areas today and scored a nice flush of chickens, super fresh and no bugs! Can't wait to cook some up! But the puffballs I found were all old! Must have popped right after that last rain. Man they were nice ones too. Probably found 15 in total, big disappointment for sure. The ones in my yard aren't growing much hope they take off. Here's some pictures of my take. Hex

I've been watering my puffballs in the yard and they're growing but slowly. Been three days now and they're about the size of a softball. Here's a picture. Hogger the wife and I had some enchiladas out of that chicken I found yesterday and they were great! Hex

We need rain around here. Things are too darn dry for shrooms.

mine grew some finally! and I found another 6 tiny ones at another area of the woods.  I picked 2 basketball size ones. I like them better small and fresh compared to old soft and huge. lol

other open areas I have found them in past aren't producing yet.  all of these have been in thick woods. that's about 7 days of growth.  some got way bigger faster.  several were golf balls now are almost baseballs. ill keep checking them.

Too dry this year for any substantial harvests.  I generally hunt chickens, hens and oysters.  Oysters being the latest harvest, Just too dry to expect any great finds.  I grow oysters year round so I am never without mushrooms.  Honestly I think the oyster is far superior to a morel or a hen.  Just my opinion but I am never without!!!

id pick it too.

I often wondered if I brought a chicken log home, if it would fruit as did in the woods.  have you guys ever tried that?

im a big fan of oysters too.  very delicate to work with though.  I have battered and fried them and sautéed in butter.  how else do you guys cook them?

Found a nice puffball and some oysters last week. I almost always dry saute oysters to remove excess water, firm them up, and concentrate flavor, then add to whatever dish I'm making.

I harvested the biggest puffball and grilled up some puffball pizza crusts! Small but they'll be great when top and finished baking. Can't wait! Here's a picture on the grill. Hex
