Kraut
« on: May 10, 2021, 06:28 PM »
Bagged up the sauerkraut for the freezer tonight.  Got 7 decent bags and it came out really good.  Had it fermenting since early March in the basement.  It takes longer in cooler temps to fully ferment but it’s far better tasting.  I officially dubbed Donna the “Kraut Queen”.

What’s the difference between the ones that say coleslaw and the ones that just say sauerkraut?

None
Donna “oopsed”
She initially wrote coleslaw and remembered it was sauerkraut.
We canned sweet slaw 2 months back.

Sounds delicious! I love homemade Kraut. I never want to eat store bought again, but often times I don’t have a choice.
I’m going to find myself a crock one of these days and make a bunch...

Smaller batches can be made in a gallon jar. I have 1/2 gallon Mason jars that work perfectly.
