 Heavy line and stiff rods with a little tip action for casting the scum frogs. Works for me.

TFB, just remember, fish these baits slow. Your mimicing a frog, they take their time... ;)

i use the BPS extreme 7'6" Heavy casting rod, with 50lb spiderwire stealth...i can cast a frog as far as i need to, and i can get the fish out of the weeds quickly

I use an light action rod with 12 lb test mono and cast outside the weedbed and fish the scum frog extremely slow when I det a strike set the hook and bring the fish in as fast as possible to avoid getting into the weeds.
