Learning to cook and teaching your family to cook good food for themselves is top of the list.

My Son gets it, my Daughter doesn’t.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I also get it.

Many years ago I worked in a high end restaurant.  The chef there was an older woman and took a liking to me.  She taught me to cook.
I then took a job as a cook in a family restaurant.

I still love to cook.
Especially from scratch.

But I also worked long and hard for what I have.  And that allows me to go out whenever I want and let others cook for me.  And I enjoy that.

So we go out to eat 1-2X a week.

But I still love to cook.

(edit) - BTW, my wife Donna does not cook.  Not that she can't.  We just set it up that I handle all the cooking way back when we got married and were sorting out who did what around the house.  So basically, I make the mess, and she cleans it up.  lol   ;D

I have definitely been enjoying teaching my daughters to cook. Someone has to, my wife could burn water!  Beef and Broccoli was spot on. Crab ragoons not so much. Back to searching different recipes for them.

Food looks great Bart. But…..beer with pasta? Mama Leone is rolling over in her grave.

Maybe a nice Valpolicella instead?

LOL, You're right RG.  I have an appreciation for wine. When I was a teenager, I worked for a produce company and delivered truckloads of wine grapes to Mama Leone's basement. Back breaking work but got lots of free samples.

I ate at Mama Leone’s in NYC a couple of times. Most memorable meals of my life. Stood in line like all the rest to get a seat with my friends.

Best restaurant I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy.

Looks great Dom.

RG, that's fantastic, what did you order on the menu?

Caught some yellow perch.  Perch tacos with pineapple and other assorted goodies.

Had lasagna one time and Veal Saltimbocca the other. What  place it was. The bread and cheese, the wine, the antipasti……my mouth waters.

Perch fry for my Bride and I tonight. Been getting some pretty regularly now. Size is getting better too.

We had a very good Italian restaurant in our area called the Northside Inn. Legendary!  It changed hands some time ago and went downhill fast. I used to host Family Dinners there for my friends and employees. 7 course meals served family style. 3-4 hours of amazing food and drink.

My kind of eating.

Zwiegles,,broccoli and garden potato casserole with spinach and bacon bits.

I’m a “prep cook”. All is ready for dinner cooking.

Culver's tonight.
A local chain.
Supposedly, has a good north Atlantic cod dinner.
We have a buy one, get 2nd free coupon.
No beer there, however.
Whatever!

Donna wants to use the coupon and she wants to see how the place is.

Edit -

Not very good.
Too much batter on the fish and it was greasy.
Also, the coupon we had wasn’t good for the fish dinner.
We can use it in their burger baskets.
Not sure if I want to go back.

Half chicken roasting on the Weber. Mixed salad and left over potato casserole.
