Seriously wind gets pulled from high pressure to low pressure like a vaccum. And the stronger the pressure gradients between the high and low pressure the stronger the wind.
So perhaps we have been getting weather systems with stronger pressure gradients? 3

Massachusetts / Waters Near and Far« Last post by bogtrotter on May 12, 2024, 06:41 PM »This morning my younger son and my buddy Bob and I took a drive to Chicopee to try the Chicopee River for shad and small mouth.
We arrived around 11:30 AM and left about 2:30 PM. It was partly sunny and about 60 degrees. My son and Bob religiously fished for shad with darts and leaves, but without success. I did a bit better, switching to worms after a while, and landing several feisty sunfish and one foot long American eel - - my first in nearly 40 years if you don't count the pencil long (and thin) specimen that I caught in the same stretch of river a couple years ago. There were a fair number of other fishermen, but no one seemed to be doing much, except one gent who hauled in a half dozen shad and left. After returning home and taking my wife and kids out to dinner for Mother's Day, I hit the South Hoosic for around 45 minutes this evening. It was cloudy and about 50 degrees. I managed to reel in one 14" brown below the Cheshire Harbor dam, as well as harvest a few ramp mushrooms a bit further downstream. 7

Now, I like to watch old westerns and other movies. Many scenes taken outside the trees or grass in the background is moving pretty good indicating the strong winds.

Of course I "Googled" it and apparently it has been windier than normal overall the past 2 years.
