I went with stick/slash-bait. Nothing, IMHO can compare to a floating rapala twitched near cover. Maybe not a numbers bait, but I've caught more slobs on a rapala than all the others combined.
On a side note, I've had some pretty good luck this year working the Berkley Blade Dancer on top water. You've got to get it moving quick, but it's suprisingly weedless and works well. Unfortunately, pike like it just as much as the bass do. I lost my last one to a pike this past Saturday, so I need to get more before the weekend.
