lake trout

Heading out for a few days for hopfully a mixed species fish trip
. And just wondering if anybody tried fall lakers yet. Plus if they have started getting shallow yet.
Plus a note the fall walleye fishing in the Minaki region has been above average.

I read about someones trip to George Lake and he said they were still deep there. That was a week or two ago though and the tempertures may have changes since then. I can't remember the temp they like though, somewhere between 47-53 degrees F ??? I think

52F is preferred....they'll move out of those temps to chase feed....unless we get some seriously cool weather with lots of wind, not much chance to see any of the laker waters roll over enough to find them shallow before closure Sept 30 in Ontario waters....wouldnt be suprised to find them hugging 100+ FOW ....Grump

i fished george lake a couple weeks ago and had no luck for lakers. we were fishing in about 70 feet using bucktail jigs tipped with minnows. but the bass bite was on.
