Minaki last week
« on: Oct 10, 2006, 11:55 AM »
Was out for 5 days of what should of been great fishing.
The temps were great for the most part , it was the wind and lack of water flowing that made fishing tough.
Big sand always had a good chop on it, and my fav spots in the channels had no current at all, so no fish were holding there.
My daughter and I did mamage to get into some nice pike.  Plus we had a few nice muskies hit some surface baits but no takers.
Plus I think  my daughter will never dangle he toes in the water again.
She had just finished reeling in a spoon and was about to put her rod down when a nice little 4 pound pike jumped out the water and almost took her rod and all in.
The pike let go so I told her drop her line to the bottom and jig it for a bit.
After 20 sec she was about to put her rod down again when the pike from under the boat jumped out the water and ran with it again. Good thing the drag was set loose.
She was upset at me when I let the fish go ( she loves pickled pike )
Now the boats are all put away and are waiting for the ice to form.
