Evening on the NSR
« on: May 14, 2007, 12:25 PM »
I may be a newbie here but i'm about to do sum catching up.

May 10th Went out after work. Had a good outing. Caught a pike first cast. With in 10 minutes a friend pulled a sucker (long nose i think). Few more wee pike and the sun started to get low. Thats when the wallys come thru. Caught my first open water wally of the year followed by a nice goldeye another walleye and then a decent walleye.

Had to try the close to the camera thing too but the fish curled its tail.

And the sucker

Oh and we went down a road that had a snake on it.

May 12th:went to nsr. It was a little slow but a good time. I only had one Wally and a decent Sauger. My buddy caught a few decent Wally. He had a pig on shore but it spat the hook and eluded him so we have no pic but I know the fish had to be at least 28 inches!! It was a real monster fish and I know he was heart broken. The shore is really muddy and it's hard to move around because the boots get vacuumed down. He got his hands on it but it got away. It was the second time that we have had this happen.

In 2005 I got a pig Wally on shore and at the same time it spat the hook, it flipped back into the water. My buddy got his hands on it but it got out of them. The fish was probably in the 27 inch department and at the time would have been my largest walleye but instead I never even got to touch it. It was a heart breaker. (Maybe we should get a net!! Duh!)

May 13th. THE STORY. Remember how i spoke of my buddy catching a 28+ inch walleye, getting it on shore and it eluding him so we couldn't get a pic? Well he was having nightmare's about it. So we went back. Long story short....HE GOT IT.  The Same fish that eluded him the day b4.  His new personal best 29 inches!!

Sauger from 12th
