We catch ours in the spring where a pond runs into the main lake, lots of current and shallow water, cast a silver and gold toronto wobbler or a gold and orange pixie spoon, got my personal best 7lb  last year on the pixie spoon.

Pimples work well with a little smelt tipped on the hook.  Minnows work great for ice fishing, for some reason I haven't tried them out in the summer.  They also will often hit a simple crawler/bobber setup.  Copper Harbor in the U.P. where I get em'.
