Pike

I've never fished for pike...  other than on hardwater.  I'm getting my boat ready and thinking about heading to wordens.  Any tips on catching these beasts??

Hey Steve,

Try close to rivers that run into the main body of water.
Burn some spinner baits through the weed lines.
Or down some rock shores.
If you feel like sitting try big sinners or dead bait on hard bottom.

Good luck

Chepiguy and I specifically targeted pike at Wordens last fall (Columbus Day) after they broke our lines the week before.  Used live heavy medium shiners, fishing the weed lines.  Fun as hell to land these as they attck the bait then fly from one end/side of the boat to the other faster than anything.

Sorry the pix are so big but the smaller ones are crappy resolution.

Chepiguy:

Me:

Had about 4 the week before break the line.  And a couple the week we caught these that spit the bait.

It's like night and day .
When you catch a big pike on rod and reel, rather than on a tip-up.
Nice photos, fuzzy or not.
