I hope it turns out to be a splake so all you people with your mind set that is is definitely a Lake trout, can go with your tail between your legs, and rethink your fish ID knowledge and get off this guys back! How about this.. DId they clip any fins on stocked lake trout in 1998? my guess is no!
I agree it has been a great thread and a great chance to learn about splake. I think that Joe was the one that was right... IF&W put a few (20) retired brood stock females into this lake for ice fisherman back in the 90's. At least that is what the word is now on how this fish got into the lake. Kinda cool to think that this one has been in there without getting caught this whole time.
