walleyes, crappies and more champlain canal
« on: May 21, 2010, 07:09 PM »
decided to try some new spots today on the canal. my cousin kenny, my friend tom and i got out arounf 6:30 this morning and within 20 minutes tom got the biggest catch of the day a nice walleye. took some time before kenny got a few nice crappies then a walleye himself. myself well i lost a decent walleye about 4 hours into the trip my first catch about 5 and half hours later got 2 consecutive eyes. i also lost the 2nd biggest fish of the day around 4lb walleye near the boat. in total we got a bunch of rock bass, smallmouths, walleyes, perch, and a pike. tom also lost a large sheephead probably the biggest fish of the day on a rapala at least 6 lbs... all fish were caught on rapalas and kenny was slamming everything on rubber crayfish.   enjoy:

first one of the day from tom

another eye by tom

kenny's biggest crappie

lots of fish caught but this is what we kept

That Canal had me hooked on catfishing for years.
I'm like an old man now and turn into a zombie after 9.
I miss the days of fishing the canal until sunup.

slyr u gotta get back out there man, the fishing has been great the last couple yr's for me there. that was my worst day in a long time there. 2 caught and 2 other lost in 12 hours is not good but at least the other 2 had better luck. best part is we didn't buy the boat till memorial day last yr and have already been out 4 times and it can only get better as bass season is not even open yet
