BML,
The Battenkill is open all year. I know it fairly well if you want to hit it one day.
I want to do some more hiking though. Let me know if you want to knock off a few summits between now and ice season. I really got hooked this year.
No more lugging water either man. That filter works awesome. The pond water actually tasted really good!

It sounds like you are in NY...it's still going, browns and steel in Ontario, landlocks in Lake Champlain.

I'm fortunate to have all of October to fish in inland VT waters, then it is off to boating in Champlain for salmon, lakers and steel.

If I didn't have that I would be plunking down the $70 to fish NY.

Here in S.E.PA. we have trout fishing year round. Many streams and llakes are stocked for the winter angler plus, believe it or not, there were many holdovers from the spring stockings. Can't believe they made it thru the brutal summer heat and low water conditions. There's also some native brown populations that have taken hold in two area streams. Not bad for this heavily populated area.My brother and I fished the Manatawny Creek on the 26th. of Nov. and caught 3 rainbows,1 brown. Not bad for being bitter out.So grab that rod and GO FISHIN'.I'm out the door right now to catch dinner.Good luck and Tight lines to all!
