I think I can count on one hand the amount of fish I've foul hooked running a bead the last couple of seasons....the main reason of running a bead is to keep that hook outside of the mouth to reduce deep hooking.

all i  said   was  i  tried    fishing  with  beads   and  i'm  going  to  keep  track of  how  many  fish  are   legal  compaired  to   ffowl  hooked    these   guys  take  this  to  serious   not  like  were  talking  rock  bass  or  white  perch  ....  they need  cough  drops

Hooked on the outside of the mouth is still the mouth.  Ive only been fishing the CP with beads for a  little over yr now. So Im no expert but Im no dummy either. But what Ive learned is the further away from the bead the hook is the less on offs, but more lost fish after the hook up. I was dropping alot of fish 2 weeks ago ( 9 in a row) so i went to about 3 1/2 inches from the hook, started getting them on but would lose them after a minute or two. 10 yrs ago i would put alot more research into it but now im just passing time til ice. The snell knot is something everyone should try though. Sometimes the hook just pulls out especailly on those soft mouth browns
