Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish.

If you don't mind me asking, how are you attaching the popper head to the hook?

I cut a slit in the balsa before I paint the popper. Then I put crazy glue gel in the slit then mount the hook. Have not had a problem yet. I had one popper go through 25 smallys on the Delaware last weekend....

Very Nice!!!
Good ties...good fish. Doesn't get much better..
I've been diligently working on a foam bluegill pattern that hooks them at a higher rate of success. I get them to the surface but they roll on it and miss 50% of the time. Granted, the gills in my test waters are smaller than some of the open waters around here, but they're good test subjects for size of fly and hook shape. Nymph hooks seem to work well for short body flies, but the gape in relation to the body size seems very critical. I'm thinking of trying some light wire double hooks

I tied these up on a size 10 and did pretty good on the pan fish the other day, with my son.. I tied them in a few different colors. They seemed to like the white and the black....

Great looking poppers! Much nicer than any I've seen in the stores. Thanks for the tip.
