Fishing on the full moon...
« on: Jul 17, 2011, 07:02 PM »
I was wondering if anyone caught any fish this week with the full moon.
I had the week off and the fishing was slow for me. Most of my days started at first light and ended before noon ,because of the heat.I did catch a few fish and lost the biggest ones.

Started with a skinny hungry Togue.

 A fat Smallmouth.

 30" Pike on 8lb. test.

The full moon on one side of the boat.

The sun rise on the other side.

 Another sun rise.

 Fat 16" salmon.

 Fat 15" brookie.

The last trout as I was heading for the landing.

Were you fishing out of a 16' Lund Explorer, by any chance?

Nice catch.

We went once.  Wind and equipment seemed to bother us more than the moon.  The whitefish were biting if you could stay on them.

Thanks guys, I have to admit the fish were on the small side and a little disappointing. I was fishing only a few miles from home and the water was very warm so had to fish many colors of lead line. It was nice just to get out and feel the cool morning air and get a tan. I was fishing from my 16' Starcraft and after 10 am. the boat traffic got crazy with all the tubers zooming around me so I'd pick up. The boat ran great until yesterday when I wanted to leave the 70hp. wouldn't start ,wish I could afford a new one. There where more bass and small browns caught and I lost a big brown and salmon and brookies. It's tough to get in all that lead in, keep the boat strait and keep proper tension on the fish. All the fish were released.
